About Dr. McBirney-Goc
I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from The New School for Social Research, where I was active in The Center for Attachment Research. After training in a variety of clinical settings across New York City, I went on to complete my Postdoctoral Fellowship at Mount Sinai’s World Trade Center Mental Health Program (WTCMHP), which serves responders to the 2001 World Trade Center attacks. In addition to my private practice, I remain active as the Assistant Director of Psychology at Mount Sinai’s WTCMHP, where I provide clinical services, supervise pre and post-doctoral psychology trainees, and assist with program development.
I am a New York State licensed clinical psychologist, and a registered out-of-state telehealth provider for the state of Florida (https://flhealthsource.gov/telehealth/).
TELEMENTAL HEALTH
I have training in the complexities of providing remote psychotherapy, and am a Certified Telebehavioral Health Practitioner through the Telebehavioral Health Institute. I understand that high quality TeleMental Health services requires more than two individuals on a video chat, and support patients in creating a therapeutic space from a distance. All video sessions are conducted via an easy-to-use, encrypted, HIPAA-compliant video platform.
IN-PERSON VISITS
In the context of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the majority of my sessions are conducted via TeleHealth. For patients seeking in-person care, I am offering limited in-person visits under infection control precautions.
INSURANCE
I am an out-of-network provider, and provide superbills to my patients to submit to their insurance companies.
